Muscat, Oman – what a truly incredible experience! This was my first time visiting this beautiful country, and I have to say, I was completely blown away. From the stunning scenery to the warm hospitality, Oman has captured a special place in my heart. But more than just a beautiful destination, this trip was professionally fulfilling in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

I had the pleasure of collaborating with the fantastic team at New Metrics to deliver a Business Storytelling Bootcamp for GBM Oman. Talk about a high-energy group! We had managers, sub-managers, and even the CEO participating, which really set the tone for the entire workshop. The enthusiasm was contagious, and everyone was genuinely engaged and enjoying the process of learning how to craft compelling narratives.

The first two days were all about the fundamentals of storytelling – how to structure a narrative, how to connect with an audience on an emotional level, how to use language and imagery to bring your message to life. We explored different storytelling frameworks and practiced crafting stories that resonated with their specific business needs.
The third day was where the magic really happened. We divided the participants into five teams, each tasked with creating a “Shark Tank” style presentation, putting everything they’d learned into practice. I spent the first half of the day working closely with each team, helping them refine their stories and hone their presentation skills. The second half was showtime! Each team had 30 minutes to present and field questions, and every member had to play an equal role. The energy was electric, the presentations were creative and compelling, and the feedback… well, it was truly wow! It was incredibly rewarding to witness the transformation in their communication skills in such a short time.

But the learning journey didn’t end there. Over the next two weeks, I stayed at the GBM Oman headquarters, providing one-on-one coaching to 20 participants – a total of 40 hours of focused work. This allowed us to delve deeper into individual challenges and tailor the coaching to specific needs. The feedback I received from everyone, from the participants themselves to the HR manager and the CEO, was beyond anything I could have hoped for. They saw real, tangible changes in how their teams communicated, collaborated, and presented their ideas. They were able to connect with their colleagues and clients on a more personal and impactful level.

This trip to Muscat was more than just a business engagement; it was a connection. It was a reminder of the power of storytelling to transform not just businesses, but also individuals. And the best part? I’ve already been invited back for more one-on-one performance coaching sessions and have exciting opportunities to work with other corporations in the coming weeks and months. I feel incredibly blessed and grateful for this experience.
